Lake Erie College Board of Directors Appoints Jennifer N. Schuller as New President

Painesville, OH – The Board of Directors has named Jennifer N. Schuller as the next president of Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. Currently serving as Vice President for Advancement, Schuller has more than 20 years of experience in higher education with expertise in the areas of advancement and enrollment. Schuller is the first woman president in 75 years to lead the institution and will assume her role as president on July 1, 2023.

“Jen brings more than 20 years of leadership experience and background in higher education to the position, and she is deeply committed to our mission of providing a quality liberal arts education to our students,” said Stephen Perry, chairman of the Lake Erie College Board of Directors. “She knows Lake Erie College well and has consistently demonstrated a keen ability to strategize and mobilize support to achieve organizational goals. We look forward to working with her to move Lake Erie College forward and secure a solid future for the College.”

Under Schuller’s leadership as Vice President for Advancement, Lake Erie College has experienced significant growth in donor support including record-breaking fundraising years and the launch of the Now & Forever Campaign, the most comprehensive fundraising campaign in the College’s history. In support of the campaign, Schuller has brought in multiple million-dollar gifts to the College and expanded program support from public funds with the receipt of several significant state grants, including $2.5 million to support STEM initiatives through the Choose Ohio First Program.

Prior to joining Lake Erie College, Schuller was a member of the advancement team at Hiram College for 16 years, most recently serving as Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations. Schuller’s experience included planned giving and annual fund initiatives, as well as cultivating and stewarding major donors. Schuller secured several seven-figure gifts for Hiram, including the largest single gift in Hiram’s history, and led a team that achieved six record-breaking fundraising years.

Schuller earned a Bachelor of Science in art therapy and a Bachelor of Fine Art in painting from Bowling Green State University in 2000, and a Master of Education degree in higher education administration from Kent State University in 2002. She lives in Portage County with her husband, Steve and their daughter, Izzy.
